TRANSCRIPT:
A Frustrating conundrum that is currently present on iOS and OS X devices, is the inability on not being able to share files between devices. The way it currently works is that AirDrop only works between iOS to iOS and OS X to OS X devices.
In my personal opinion, this is totally ridiculous and unacceptable, especially when trying to built an Apple ecosystem.
Having to use third party apps to accomplish this task was a total pain in the neck, and that's putting it mildly.
Well, finally, a welcome update coming this fall to AirDrop in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, is the ability in being able to send files, photos and video across all devices. Yes, from Macs to iOS devices and visa versa. A long awaited update that should have been addressed many moons ago.
Time for a demo.
Soooo, Let’s Get Started
I’ll first transfer an image then a video file from an iPhone 5s running iOS 8 to a MacBook Air running OS X Yosemite then conclude by doing the reverse, from Mac to iPhone.
Bare in mind, both OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 are both currently in the Beta 2 stages, connection between devices was still a bit buggy, but the main point of this video is that AirDrop between devices works and finally a reality and coming this fall to iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite.
And there you have it, AirDrop works across devices as shown.
And that’s it,
Thanks for watching and thumbs-up if you liked this video, and please, don't forget to subscribe to be notified of the next episode.
