2. OS X Mavericks USB Boot Disk.
If you have not already done so, click on the links in the description to watch Methods 1 or 2; Titled: “How To Create a Mac OS X Mavericks USB Boot Disk”, or click the Thumbnails here to view now.

As always, before proceeding, make sure that you have made a backup of your entire hard drive(s), especially since we’ll be working with the Mac Disk Utility program.

So…Assuming that you have created an OS X Mavericks USB Boot Disk, it's time to proceed on the procedures for doing a Clean Install.

As mentioned earlier, doing a clean install involves 2 steps:

Step 1:

Some sections has been time lapse where appropriate …let’s face it…who wants to watch paint dry.
The Entire Clean Install process took about 45 minutes.

So, with your Mac shutdown, insert the Mavericks USB Boot Disk in an available USB socket. Now, hold down the Option Key and Press and release the Power Button you should hear the (Boing) sound, keep holding down the Option Key until you see the Macintosh HD and the Orange  Icon labelled OS X Base System…this is the USB Flash Drive, it should be.

How To Clean Install OS X MavericksDouble Click or Click on the Orange Icon then Click on the Up arrow, this should bring up the OS X Installer screen shown here.

Now from the OS X Installer menubar click on Utilities and select ‘Disk Utility…’

From the Disk Utility Window, select Macintosh HD, then the Erase Button, make sure the Format is as shown Mac OS Extended (journaled) and the default Name Macintosh HD (you can change the name if you wish)

Then press the Erase Button here, you are then asked if you are sure, press the erase button to confirm. This will Erase all data and reformat the disk….this takes about 10 seconds.

After Erasing the Macintosh HD, quick Disk Utility.

Now you are back to the OS X Installer screen as before.

It’s now time to Install OS X Mavericks…Just Press the Continue Button here…then the Agree Button for the Terms…Then Select the Macintosh HD that was just Erased and finally…click on the Install Button.

The Installation will begin, after about 23 minutes or so, the Mac will auto boot where you will be presented with the following screens, after entering compulsory and optional details, you will be presented with the Mavericks Desktop.

Now shut down the Mac, making sure that you have removed the Mavericks USB Boot Disk, and restart the Mac with the Power Button and Option Key process as we did earlier.

Notice Anything Different?...10 Points if you noticed that the Recovery HD is not there...Doh!

This presents a problem...especially in the event that you might need to use FileVault  or activate Find My Mac options, as they both rely on the Recovery HD being present.

Ordinarily, when doing a Clean Install of OS X Mountain Lion, a Recovery HD Partition is created automatically for you.

Which brings us to Step 2:

Don’t go anywhere…
